Stress is no stranger to many of us but, it’s extremely important to monitor and control! The long term health dangers of chronic stress include anxiety, insomnia, muscle pain, high blood pressure and a weakened immune system. Sponsored by The Health Resource Network (HRN), a non-profit health education organization, Stress Awareness Month is a national, cooperative effort to inform people about the dangers of stress, successful coping strategies, and harmful misconceptions about stress that are prevalent in our society.
Here a few tips to control your stress at work that take less than 5 minutes:
- Keep a stress ball at your desk – Exerting that negative energy really helps you over the slump!
- Just laugh – Find a funny video online to step away from your task for a minute or two.
- Walk – If your mind is stuck, take a walk, it will help clear your mind. In the office, maybe make it a short stroll around the building or to your car.
- Breathe – Close your eyes and take 3-5 deep breaths!
Try a few of these stress management techniques to help control stress throughout the workday. Everyday stressors can add up – we can’t avoid them but we can manage them!
